“When Luca finds out,” Ricci says, shaking his head in a desperate attempt, “the Gusev’s won’t take this lightly.”

“I don’t think that’s the point.”

He scoffs, “And what’s your name again, sweetie?” The smirk on his face is making my skin crawl, but Viktor has done well in prepping me on men like Ricci.

I walk around the criminal in a wide circle, catching a whiff of his foul odor; I don’t dare to get closer.

It’s hard to believe I’m here some days. When Uncle David came to terms with Viktor and I—not that I cared if he did, but Viktor seemed to carea lotabout it—he said I would stay protected. And I have. But in the meantime, it’s shaped me into the woman I am now; formed under Viktor’s hand as I continue to watch him lead the Bratva, and do it rather well.

“My name doesn’t matter,” I tell Ricci carelessly. “And soon, you won’t matter, either.”

A bitter look twists his face, and as ugly as it is, it makes me smile. I like the fact he’s going to pay. He weaseled his way in here to take away my future, and now there’s no turning back. Not for him, at least.

Viktor only doles out punishment when it’s well deserved, and Ricci here has earned it a dozen times over. Viktor is a fair leader; a well-respected one. The Bratva is the most united it has been in decades, to where Kristina even sent her warm regards when she heard how well it’s been.

Ricci smiles at me, exposing his two rotted teeth. “You’re his whore,” he croons. “Victor’s little bitch. I’ve heard the rumors, but never believed he’s been robbing the cradle with—”

Viktor stalks into the room, cutting the mindless rant short.

There he is.

He shoots me a wink before he starts to roll up his sleeves, moving in front of Ricci as I step to the side, letting the man in charge take reign. A rush of desire sweeps in, even as strange as this is.

But yet, it’s not uncommon. The day Viktor made me his, I’ve never wanted to turn back. Nothing has felt more…right. I feel like I’m where I’m meant to be, even if it’s not the picture my mother had in mind for me.But that’s okay. I’ve come to learn you can create new pictures, even if it’s not what everyone comes to accept—at leastyoudo in the end.

“I’d be careful if I were you,” Viktor says casually to Ricci, circling the criminal’s chair. “You talk to a princess that way, I ought to cut your tongue off.”

He stands tall before the criminal, and in walks Uncle David, adding to the small party. I figured he’d be joining, as he’s not too fond of the break-in as much as any one of us.

“Think we should teach him a lesson?” Uncle David asks, and sarcastically—we already know that’s what will happen here. And when my uncle joins Viktor’s side, Ricci’s eyes go wide as he finally realizes he’s reached his end…
