Lee groans and dips his chin to press his lips to mine. His hands slide around, lift my dress, and grip my ass, pulling my hips toward him so that I can feel his stiff length at my stomach. Then his lips trail down my neck. “It’s going to be impossible to keep my hands off you tonight.”

I sigh as he trails his tongue up to my ear. “You have to.”

“Maybe we can meet later for a quickie in one of the bathrooms.” He punctuates his words by squeezing my ass as he pushes his hips toward me.

“Yeah, may—”

“Where you at, girl? Brady has the high-end stuff, so I made us a—oh.” Bryce stands at the doorway to the room.

Lee and I push apart, but I can tell by the way Bryce is looking at me that we haven’t fooled her.

“I’m sorry, am I interrupting something?” She cocks a hip and raises an eyebrow.

Damn it.

“’Course not. I just got lost looking for the bathroom.” Lee adjusts himself in his pants before turning to face Bryce. “See you ladies later.”

He breezes from the room as if nothing happened. Either he thinks she bought his lame excuse, or he’s really not bothered that Bryce has caught us.

Bryce steps into the room with a grin. “All right, tell meeverything.”

Guilt settles in my chest that I haven’t confessed my sins to what is my one and only friend in California. “If I tell you, do you promise not to say anything?”

One corner of her mouth creeps up in a wider grin. “Of course. I haven’t told a soul what you told me about college. You can trust me.”

“I mean it. No one can know. Ever. It would be really bad for me.”

The salacious look in her eyes morphs to concern. “You have my word.”

I take a deep breath and grab her wrist. “Not in here. Someone might come in to leave their jacket.”

I lead us to the next room down the hall. It’s a little boy’s bedroom. This must be Brady’s son Theo’s room. Once we’re inside, I close the door, and Bryce holds one of the two drinks in her hands out to me.

I swallow a hearty sip then blurt it out. “I’ve been sleeping with Lee Burrows.”

“You what?” Bryce leans forward, eyes wide. “Are you serious?” She takes a healthy amount of her own drink. “I thought you were going to tell me he made a pass at you in the bedroom. How long has this been going on?”

I bite my lip. “A while.”

“Tell me everything! I want details. Is it as good as you remember or is it better now? Where are you guys meeting up? Have you messed around at the Kingsmen facilities?” When I don’t answer immediately, her face drops. “Oh. Oh wait. You’re not justsleepingwith him, youlikehim.”

I want to deny it, but I can’t. Not to her. Besides, it might feel good to actually talk to someone about how I’m feeling. “It’s stupid, I know.”

“Hey…” She rubs my upper arm. “It’s not stupid. You can’t help who your stupid heart falls for.”

I set my drink on the dresser and pace the length of the room. “But there’s no future for us. It was supposed to just be about hooking up. I thought I could get him out of my system and move on, but the more we’re together, the more I want more.”

“How does he feel?”

I spin to face her. “No idea. We haven’t discussed it because there’s nothing to discuss. The rules are very clear—the two of us cannot be in a relationship while we’re both members of the Kingsmen organization.”

She steps closer to me, a sympathetic look on her face. “Maybe there’s some kind of work-around—”

I shake my head. “There’s not. I’ve put myself in an impossible situation.”

Bryce frowns. “What are you going to do?”

“Honestly?”
