“What’s wrong?”

“Have you heard from Anya since she got out of court?”

“Nooo-” I can see her mind spinning and we both know exactly what the lack of contact means. I pull out my phone and dial Tanner, who picks up immediately.

“Yeah?”

“I need a trace on Anya’s phone. Now.” Tanner doesn’t say anything, but I hear his fingers clicking away on his keyboard and I know he’s doing exactly what I said.

“Her phone is offline.” I hear muffled conversation in the background, but Tanner’s fingers are still clicking. “The last place it had a signal was at the courthouse.”

“She said she was on her way to her car and heading back to the office.”

“I’ll start pulling up camera footage. Alec and Wyatt are on their way down.”

“I’m going to the courthouse to see if I can get an idea of what happened.” I’m already heading out the door because I’m not letting even a second pass without trying to find my woman. I knew I shouldn’t have let her be on her own. I should have gone to the fucking courthouse with her and waited.Fuck!

I don’t know how many traffic laws I break on my way to the courthouse, but as soon as I get there, I barely get my car in park before I’m jumping out and sprinting to the side that I know Anya parks on. I spot her car immediately and the feeling of dread that's been hovering over me like a dark cloud officially begins to rain down on me. The doors are still locked, and as I turn trying to get some bearings on my surroundings, I spot it. Her bag.

Her bag is dropped haphazardly on the ground and no more than two feet away is her phone and car keys. Her phone is completely smashed like it was dropped hard.

I hurry and pull my phone back out and dial Tanner again.

“What’s you find?”

“Her car is still here and locked up. Her bag, phone, and keys are here too. They look like they were dropped. Her phone is a complete goner.

“Fuck-” The single word from the other end of the line does not help with my panic even a little bit. “I’m trying to gather any footage from the area that I can. Grab her things and go back to her office. Alec and Wyatt are almost there, and Grant is on his way.”

I hang up without another word and scoop up Anya’s things before rushing back to my car. It only takes me a few minutes to get back to Anya and Willow’s office and the moment I step through the door, a large mass slams against me and I’m shoved against the wall. I drop Anya’s things from the force of the surprise.

“My sister!” Alec shouts in my face and I know the secret is officially out. “You’re fucking my sister!?”

The way he makes it sound, like she means nothing to me, like she’s just someone I’m fucking, it sends me over the fucking edge. Without even thinking about the consequences, I lift my arms and shove him back. I don’t stop until he’s backed against the opposite wall.

“That’s not how it fucking is!” I officially don’t give a shit about what happens to me. I’m in love with Anya, and I won’t let him discount that just because he’s pissed.

“I don’t fucking care how it is! She’s my fucking sister and you betrayed me!” I get ready to fight back again, until an unexpected yell comes from our side.

“Shut the fuck up!” We both turn to see Willow glaring at us, angrier than I’ve ever seen her. I’m not even sure I can remember ever seeing her angry until now. “Anya is missing, and you two assholes are fighting over the fact that you both love her?” Her words hit me, and judging by the way Alec’s body deflates like mine, they hit him too. “The only thing any of us should care about right now is finding her-” Her voice breaks and I’m tempted to take her in my arms as a way to comfort her, but Alec beats me to it.

“I’m sorry, Willow Tree. You’re right. And we’re going to find her.”

A phone starts ringing, and we all turn to Tanner as he pulls his out of his pocket. His brows furrow and confusion is clear on his face. “It’s Dent.”

The fact that Dent is contacting us isn’t the confusing part, but the fact that he’s calling Tanner and not Alec.

“Yeah?” Tanner’s quiet for a moment as he listens to whatever is being said on the other line. The way his body slowly rises from his stiffening spine, I know it’s not good. He keeps glances at Alec and me, then quickly moves his gaze away. Which means that we’re really not going to like whatever is being said.

“How the fuck did this happen?” His voice is calm and even, but the hint of a threat is there. I’m desperate to scream at him and demand to know what’s being said, but I don’t.

“Oh, it’ll get fucking handled. When can you be here?” My eyes lock with Collins across the room and he must hear my silent question because he just shakes his head and shrugs. Clearly just as confused as I am.

“Okay, I’ll send you the address.” He hangs up the phone and pulls in a heavy breath before letting it out and turning to face us again.

“It’s Hastings.”What the fuck?

Danes is one of Dents men. He’s been with him for a few years now. He’s one of the few that we’ve trusted to stay at HQ to protect the women while we dealt with people like Wilson and Banner. He took a fucking bullet to protect.
