“Can I get you guys another drink?” Our server appears out of thin air.

“I’ll take another,” I grumble. My phone just buzzed in my pocket, so I pull it out for a quick look. Which is why I don’t register what Charlie orders until it’s too late.

“I’m good, but can you send a drink to the woman up there in the green dress, blond hair. Whatever she’s drinking. If she isn’t, make it a margarita, on the rocks.”

I look up, shocked that he did it and he’s pointing up at Cassie and our server is nodding that he knows who’s getting the drink.

“Fuck you, man,” I tell him.

He just laughs. “You’ve got no balls.”

“I do, you asshole, I just don’t want to deal with”—I motion toward Cassie—“that tonight.”

Lies. That’s a fucking lie.

“Right.”

A couple minutes later, a fresh tumbler is placed in front of me. I glance up at Cassie at the exact same time a server delivers her drink.

Shit. Here we go.

The server nods toward us and she turns and looks down. The railing on the balcony isn’t high, so she doesn't have to stretch to see us.

I can make out her features perfectly, can see her grin is massive.

“Fuck,” I say under my breath.

“Hell yeah,” Charlie says while, sending her a salute.

She waves down at us, lifts her drink, and mouths, “Thank you.”

I nod to her.

But I look away and find Charlie still looking up at her. “Poor chap. He’s pissed. I give it ten minutes before she kicks him to the curb.”

“Yeah, and then what?”

“Then I take my exit when she joins you for another drink. And then it’s up to you after that,” he says like it’s no big deal. Except that it is. I have no business sharing a drink with Cassie. A drink will lead to flirting, and flirting will lead to me wanting her in my bed.

Who am I kidding? I already want her in my fucking bed.

“Oh, speaking of the wedding planner, I got to save the date for your sister. I’m not surprised. I always suspected she had a thing for me,” he says.

“No. She didn’t and you can’t come if you’re gonna cause problems.” I stare him down, trying to figure out if he’s joking.

He laughs. “No worries, I’m not a home wrecker. I’ll come only to see how you behave around the wedding planner. After tonight, I’m sure things will get interesting.”

I just shake my head.

“Well, look at that. Just as expected.” He cocks his head toward the balcony as he stands.

“Dinner was on you, yeah?” He smirks. I glare in return.

I take my time dragging my gaze up to where Cassie is. She and the man are standing. She gives him a sad smile as he leans in and kisses her cheek. Then turns away from the table, I assume to leave.

“I expect all the details, Mr.,” Charlie says and I sigh.

“Don’t hold your breath,” I tell him. He waggles his brows and walks away.
