“Uh…” Grant cleared his throat. “How about we watch the show? Let’s see. Season eight, right? Because you haven’t even gotten to the part where Rick really Ricks it up.”

“You were totally stalking me!” Huck cackled.

“I… uh, maybe?” Grant was certain they could melt s’mores off his face right now. “Let’s see, uh.” He tapped away on his phone to open the streaming app to bring up the show. “We can just skip that episode where Shiva died. Totally skip right over that, just like I’m skipping over answering that question.”

“Ah, come on. I think it’s sweet. Besides, if you hadn’t been stalking me, I might not have remembered to ask you about my parents.” Huck patted Grant’s chest. “Which, you know, I was totally going to do earlier, but well…” He glanced at Grant’s lips. “I got a little distracted.”

“Sorry.” Grant propped the phone on his belly, angling it so Huck could see too. “Mmm, I won’t ever do it again.”

“I’m actually hoping to do it a lot.” Huck smiled warmly.

Grant folded his fingers with Huck’s, smiling back. “Me too.” He got caught up staring into Huck’s beautiful eyes, and he was so tempted to share just a teeny tiny bit of energy to snag a kiss, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to stop at one. “So, uh, ready for me to hit play?”

“Oh yeah. Totally ready. Let’s do this. I need to find out what the heck Ricking it up means.”

“Okay, well, we got a bunch of episodes to go before we get there.”

“Hey, good thing I’m dead.” Huck grinned. “Plenty of time.”

“Here we go.”

They barely made it to the end of the episode before Grant was dozing off.

Even with Huck’s excited commentary, Grant couldn’t keep his eyes open. He never let go of Huck’s hand though. Even as Huck faded while the overall level of energy between them ebbed, Grant made sure to not lose his hand. At some point, he had to have zonked out because he was suddenly on his side, the phone had fallen off the bed, and Huck was lovingly rubbing his back.

“Are you going to stay?” Grant mumbled.

“Yeah.” Huck sounded like he was smiling. “I’ll be right here.”

“Okay.”

When Grant woke up, he couldn’t feel Huck’s hand on him anymore, but he could sense that he was still close. He was comfortable and refreshed, and he hadn’t slept that well in a very long time. When he recalled falling asleep with Huck and their intense makeout session, he couldn’t help but grin.

“Hmm, somebody woke up in a good mood,” Huck teased.

“Uh-huh.” Grant stretched his legs, rolling over to face where he felt Huck’s energy, reaching out to offer his hand. “Mmm, good morning.”

“Morning.” Huck rested his hand over Grant’s, his ghostly touch cool like an icy breeze.

Grant wiggled his fingers, sharing what he needed to so he could take hold of Huck’s hand. He still hadn’t opened his eyes yet, grumbling, “Mmm, what time is it?”

“I’m a ghost. I’m literally the worst person to ask.” Huck laughed quietly. “I can tell you that the sun’s coming up, and uh… That’s all I got.”

“Mmm. Can the nice ghost tell me where my phone is?”

“You’re laying on it, I think.”

“Well, that’s a damn shame.” Grant yawned. “Because I don’t feel like moving.”

“Do you have to work today?”

“Mmhmm.”

“You set an alarm?”

“Mmhmm. Which means now I’m going back to sleep.” Grant squeezed Huck’s hand. “Night night.”

“Okay, baby,” Huck soothed. “Go on. I’ll be here.”
